There are also many reasons for the band saw blade fracture, as follows:
1. Improper selection of band saw blade thickness
If the saw blade is bent too much, it will be prone to fatigue failure. If the saw blade is hard and the saw wheel diameter is small, continuous bending will cause rapid failure of the back of the band saw blade.
2. Saw blade tooth profile is poor or passivated
There are various tooth pitches of band saw blades. The more teeth, the less pressure each tooth will bear. The fewer teeth, the greater the pressure. In addition, the new saw blade needs to be broken in. Cracks appear after a short service time, which indicates that the cutting in the running in period is not done well or is not run in at all.
3. Accumulation of foreign matters such as sawdust
Uneven roundness of the pulley will cause foreign matters such as sawdust to stay on the surface of the saw wheel, so the saw wheel must be kept clean. Similarly, the band saw blade shall not be stained with such foreign matters as sawdust. When sawing, it is the best way to use professional lubricant to continuously lubricate the band saw blade, which can improve the life of the band saw blade and ensure the cutting accuracy. Lubricant is often referred to as cutting fluid or coolant.
4. Too much tension
The proper tension of the saw blade can ensure the straight operation of the saw blade. The tension is different according to the sawing material and the thickness and width of the saw blade. Consult the band saw blade manufacturer for the best tension of the saw blade.
5. Feed speed is too high
When sawing soft materials, the cutting resistance is small and the cutting force is increased. Compared with low feed speed, when the feed speed is fast, the feed pressure is greater. However, slow feeding will cause friction, and the generated heat will also damage the saw blade.
6. The pulley outer surface is worn and the roundness is poor
Poor roundness of the pulley will greatly increase the tension on the saw blade. Under the double action of twist and tension, the life of band saw blade is quickly exhausted.
7. Bearing wear
Bearing wear will lead to excessive tension of the saw blade. Even if the outer diameter of the saw wheel is in good condition, the saw blade will crack when the saw wheel is running.
8. Clamping block is slightly worn
The clamping block of the sawing machine is worn abnormally, causing abnormal scratches on the side of the saw blade.
9. Worn runner
The twisted runner is severely worn, causing the inlet of the saw blade to be unstable, which is prone to early fatigue fracture of the back of the saw blade.
10. Poor parallelism of driving and driven wheels
The pulley must be aligned and balanced to prevent vibration. The saw wheels are not parallel, and the tooth and back of the saw blade are subject to different tensions. The side with large stress is prone to produce fine cracks, which will damage the saw blade when twisted.
11. Drive belt
The driving belt of the sawing machine shall operate stably. After the service life of the belt is exceeded, it cannot play a role in reducing vibration. If the crack is small and other conditions are good, a new belt may solve the problem.
Although the problem of band saw blade fracture cannot be avoided, correct operation and proper maintenance of the band saw blade sawing machine can prolong the service life of the band saw blade and improve the sawing efficiency.
